GVT Lab and Imaging Services

GVT Lab & Imaging Services Inc. is contracted by the Government of Ontario to administer PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and POC (point-of-care) tests in Ontario schools in order to help fight the spread of Covid-19. Asymptomatic testing helps maintain a safe learning environment and prevents virus transmission within schools.

The tests are administered by highly trained mobile RNs (registered nurses) /RPNs (registered practitioner nurses) that can administer PCR sample collection and POC tests at the assigned location.

GVT Lab has extensive experience working with pediatric patients in various settings. Keeping our patients comfortable and their parents informed and educated is our top priority.

Are you a parent with a child in school?

Asymptomatic Covid-19 testing is completely voluntary and requires parental consent. Your school will send you an email with a link to register your child and consent to testing. Once registered, you will receive a QR code — this is your proof of registration.

If you have difficulties registering or decide to get your child tested at the last moment, you can still get the test done. Simply come to the testing site with your child — you can sign the consent form on the spot.

Is asymptomatic testing safe?

Yes, asymptomatic Covid-19 testing is safe and voluntary. The procedure is performed by highly trained mobile RNs (registered nurses) /RPNs (registered practitioner nurses) that can administer PCR sample collection and the POC tests at the assigned location.

Do I need to make an appointment to get tested?

Having an appointment is recommended and you can click here to book your test. However, if you are a parent with a child in school or an employee at a company that is performing blanketed testing, you can simply come to the testing site. You can give your consent and have yourself or your child tested on the same day.

What kind of test can I get?

GVT offers both mobile PCR testing and Rapid POC testing. PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests are administered on location by trained medical personnel.

Results are available on the eHealth Ontario website within 48 hours.

Rapid POC (point-of-care) testing helps determine if you are likely to have the virus. Test results are generally available within 2 hours and anyone with a positive rapid test should follow up with a PCR test for confirmation.

Can I obtain my flight pre-departure travel test from GVT?

YYes, you can get your PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test results within 48 hours by visiting the eHealth Ontario website.

My child is in school — how does asymptomatic testing in schools work?

Once asymptomatic testing is available in your child’s school, you will receive an email explaining the testing process. This email will also include a link to register your child for the test and provide your consent.
